A big find bogey-bird in the bag today - Black-necked Grebe at Covenham Reservoir (Lincs). Initially passed off as a distant hunched Little Grebe, the apparent lack of bulk in it's bill kept nagging at me. A quick shifty to the opposite side of the reservoir soon sorted it out. Above is my worst shot of the bird, chosen to give it a real authentic rare feel......er, actually that's my best shot (usual excuses apply).
Other recent find have included Smew in Dumfries and Galloway and Hen Harrier in Aberdeens. Total on 141.
(Having looked at photo again, it's not actually that too bad).
